I did two really thoughtless potentially hurtful things this week, and it sucks. In neither case did I mean to be a dumbass jerk, but in both cases, I'm pretty sure I was. I'm too embarrassed to explain either situation here. Uggghh.
Uh, yeah... who the hell is Ben Gorski? Don't sweat the little stuff, Ellen... you're way too amazing for that.
Speaking of which, what are you up to this weekend? I keep meaning to call but there seems to be a conspiracy on to utterly subjugate me to the will of the mighty University. I keep trying to remind myself that I'm PAYING for this whole education thing.
Anyways, let me know - been thinking about you a lot lately.
The following from your blog IS dehumanizing, and I call it like I see it. You're right, though, that it wasn't very nice (or more importantly, effective) to comment publicly. Sorry for that.
"I've seen ALOT of poverty over the past few days. REAL poverty. Like stinky socks laying on the street smelling up the whole block poverty. And to those bums...I give em a dollar if they ask for it.
But then SOME bums just arn't even trying to be poor! Like the guy in a polo and khakis? Um no sir...you are dressed the same if not better than me...you do not get my money. Or the "bum" with a bluetooth headsest on each ear? If you can pay for that cell phone, you do NOT need my cash. So a little hint for all you readers headed into poverty because of this failing economy...the nastier you are, the more cash you will get."
